CELEBRATIONS OF NATIONAL POSTAL WEEK’2018 9 th -15 th OCTOBER’2018

The World Post Day marks the anniversary of the establishment of Universal Postal Union and is held on October 9 every year. Department of Posts is celebrating National Postal week from 9the October  to 15th October’2018.
Maharashtra Postal Circle is organising celebrations during the National Postal week’2018 in each of its 6 regions at Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Goa as under :

On 09.10.2018, (World Post Day) Post Forum meetings will be organised within Post Offices premises and organise visit of school children to Post Offices.
On 10.10.2018 (Banking Day) Organise Savings Bank Melas/ Camps to open POSB/IPPB accounts. APY, SSY, PMSBY, PMJJY enrolments.
On 11.10.2018 (PLI Day), Holding of Melas, camps, door to door campaign, propagation by audio visual media to get new Postal Life Insurance / Rural Postal Life Insurance Business,
On 12.10.2018 (Philately Day), “My Stamp” facility will be provided in prominent schools and Business Houses.
On 13.10.2018 (Business Development Day), to interact with existing and potential customers to increase Postal Business.
On 15.10.2018 (Mails Day), to organize visit of school children to post offices and mail sorting offices and interaction with postman.

The following various services are offered by Department of Posts as under :
A. Citizen Centric Services offered by India Post Aadhar, Post Office Passport Seva Kendras, Social Security Schemes such as Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Pradhan Mantri Surkasha Bima Yojana (PMJBY), Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts (SSA), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme

B. INDIA POST PAYMENTS BANK (IPPB)
● In Maharashtra Circle, 42 IPPB branches with 210 Access Points covering 38 Head Offices, 67 Sub Offices and 105 Branch Offices were launched.
● A large work force of 3,00,000+Postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) offering Assisted Doorstep Banking in rural, urban and remote areas IPPB will make banking and payments simple. Using Aadhaar, it will open paperless accounts in minutes and allow customers to make digital transactions with the help of QR Cards and biometric authentication

C. PLI/RPLI Extended Clientle :
● Employees (teaching/non-teaching staff) of all private educational institutions/
schools/colleges etc. Professionals such as Doctors (including Doctors pursuing Post
Graduate degree courses through any Govt/Private Hospitals, Residents Doctors
employed on contract/permanent basis in any Govt/Private Hospitals etc), Engineers
(including Engineers pursuing Master’s/Post Graduate degree after having passed
GATE entrance test), Management Consultants, Charted Accountants registered with
Institute of Charted Accountants of India, Architects, Lawyers registered with Bar
Council of India/States, Bankers working in Nationalized Banks and its Associate
Banks, Foreign Banks, Regional Rural Banks, Scheduled Commercial Banks
including Private Sector Banks etc.
● Employees of listed companies of NSE (National Stock Exchange) and Bombay
Stock Exchange (BSE) in IT, Banking & Finance, Healthcare/Pharma, Energy/Power,
Telecom, Infrastructure Sector etc, where employees are covered for Provident Fund
/Gratuity and/or their leave records are maintained by the establishment.
● All contractual employees engaged by Central/State Govt. and all scheduled
commercial banks as per list on RBI web site.

D. PHILATELY :
● Dhai Akhar Letter Writing :
Dhai Akhar is a National and International level letter Writing Competition on
the theme “Letter to my motherland”. The last date of receipt of entries is
31.10.2018.
* The competition is open for all age group and the categories are :
(i) Inland letter card in 500 words (upto 18 years and above 18 years)
(ii) Envelope category in 1000 words (upto 18 years and above 18 years)
* In Maharashtra Postal Circle, all total 28,000 entries are received as on 08.10.2018.
● Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana (DDSY) :

DDSY is a scholarship to inculcate the hobby of Philately. The scholarship is
Rs.6000/- for the students from Std VI th to IX th . Total 40 students will be selected
for granting scholarships in Maharashtra Circle for the year 2018-19.
● Customised My Stamp:
Customised My Stamp is a personalised sheets of postage stamps, wherein the
corporate, organisations and institutions can get their customised sheets printed from
India Post. Alongside these customised themed stamps, the organisation may opt for
printing of their logo, and images of their organisation/institute or the photographs of
their employees printed.

Department has developed the Postman
Mobile Application through CEPT for

Center (IBC) is set up at APSO Complex Air
Mail Sorting Division Mumbai-400099.
Daily average 2000 international articles are
being booked at IBC.
International Tracked Packet Service :
International Tracked Packet Service with
track and trace facility has started from
09.10.2017 to cater to e-Commerce
requirements among 12 Asia Pacific
countries.

B. Citizen Centric Services offered by India Post
● Aadhar : Aadhar Project was set up on 20 th June 2017. Total Number of
Aadhar Enrollment Transaction as on 01 st Oct 2018 is 50594 and Total
Number of Aadhar Updation Transaction as on 01 st Oct 2018 is 427239
● Post Office Passport Seva Kendras :
The total number of POPSK Functional in Maharashtra Circle is 16
● Social Security Schemes :
* Atal Pension Yojana (APY)
* Pradhan Mantri Surkasha Bima Yojana (PMJBY)
* Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts (SSA)
* Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme

C. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT TIE-UPS
 RTO:-
 Booking and delivery of driving license and registration certificate to
registered customers through Speed Post.
 Special package at the rate of Rs.45 /- per article (Speed Post & Business Post
charges) is charged.
 The annual revenue is to the tune of 25 Crores.
 MSEDCL-
 Collection of bills from MSEDCL customers through various Post office and
consolidated payment to MSEDCL through e-Payment.
 Annual revenue is 6 to 7 Crores.
 E-challan:-
 Proposal of delivery of e-challans through Speed Post and collection of e-
chalan amount from traffic violators through ePayment.
 The proposal is active in Navi Mumbai and Nagpur Region.
 Revenue earned is Rs. 2,08,81,806/- from November 2016 to July 2018.
 State wise expansion is underway.

D. INDIA POST PAYMENTS BANK (IPPB)
● In Maharashtra Circle, 42 IPPB branches with 210 Access Points covering
39 Head Offices, 67 Sub Offices and 105 Branch Offices were launched.
● Total 72957 IPPB accounts were opened till 2-10-2018 under Maharashtra
circle.

● Vast network and reach of India Post with a rural India penetration of 1,30,000
access points (Post Offices), which is nearly 2.5 times the number of bank
branches in rural India today .
● A large work force of 3,00,000+Postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS)
offering Assisted Doorstep Banking in rural, urban and remote areas IPPB will
make banking and payments simple. Using Aadhaar, it will open paperless
accounts in minutes and allow customers to make digital transactions with the help
of QR Cards and biometric authentication
● For IPPB, the last mile service partner is the Postman. The Department of Posts
(DoP) represents sovereign trust, and partnering with such an institution will set IPPB
apart
E. Technology Implementation :
● Core Banking Solutions (CBS) :
* Out of 2210 Post offices in Maharashtra Circle, total migrated 2171
● ATMs :
75 ATMs are installed in Maharashtra and are functional
● Core System Integration (CSI) :
* All 41 Postal divisions & 7 Railway Mail Services Divisions have been
rolled out in CSI
● Core Insurance Solutions (CIS) :
* Total 61 Head Post offices in Maharashtra Circle are rolled out.
● Darpan :
* Under Phase-II, 7151 BOs of 29 Divisions are rolled out and remaining 1876

BOs will be rolled out by the 3 rd week of Oct 2018.

F. PLI/RPLI
Extended Clientle :
● Employees (teaching/non-teaching staff) of all private educational institutions/

G. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
Initiatives taken under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ in Maharashtra Postal Circle - 2018
● Swachhata Hi Sewa 2018 was observed from 15 th Sep’2018 to 2 nd Oct’2018
● Various activities such as Shramadan in Post Offices, cleaning of Postal Colonies,
weeding out of old records, conducting rallies for generating awareness about
Swachhta in general public, tree plantation in Postal colonies, awareness campaigns
around better sanitation practices like using a toilet, hand washing, health and hygiene
awareness, mechanised cleaning of toilets etc. were undertaken
● Leaflets on ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ awareness campaign were distributed all over
Maharashtra Circle including Goa in schools/colleges, to each households through
Postmen, and to members of public at Post Office counters.
● A special cover on “Run for Swachhata” was released in Pune on 07.10.2018
during Pune Half Marathon.

H PHILATELY :
