QuPlay announces its brand new chat show Pinch by Arbaaz Khan

After the phenomenal success of its first show ‘Bhajji Blast with Chennai Super Kings’, QuPlay brings you an interesting chat show Quick HealPinch by Arbaaz Khan. The unique concept will witness Arbaaz Khan talking to Bollywood stars and discussing their social media interactions.

This season of Quick Heal Pinch by Arbaaz Khan has 10 episodes of approximately 20 minutes each and will be streamed online once a week on QuPlay’s YouTube channel. Celebrities on the chat show are Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kapil Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sunny Leone to name a few.  The show will be live on March 12th, 2019 at 1 pm. The show has been written and directed by Abbiy Obheroii.

Sumit Dutt, founder of QuPlay, who conceived this show says, “We’re happy to announce our second exciting chat show titled ‘Quick Heal Pinch by Arbaaz Khan’. I feel the show is the need of the hour. Besides a quirky and unique concept, this show has real emotions and real responses. The show is a peak-a-boo into the social media life of the popular celebrities. I always thought that Arbaaz was the right fit to present this show and the audiences will get to see a side of Arbaaz that they’ve never seen before.”

Host Arbaaz Khan says, “Social media is a new animal for me and something which I have not done in the past but it is exciting, entertaining and new. I am looking forward to my new innings of exploring the digital space. I started off as an actor, then I became a producer and then a director and now a host and I hope people will enjoy the show.”


QuPlay, the online viewing platform helmed by Sumit Dutt was launched in May 2018 on YouTube with the aim of providing the audience with modern day edgy and unique content. 

QuPlay's first series ‘Quick Heal Bhajji Blast with CSK’ had 10 episodes featuring former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh in a candid conversation with his Chennai Super Kings teammates Suresh Raina, Dwayna Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Ambati Rayudu and the likes of Shane Watson, Mike Hussey, Laxmipathy Balaji, Murali Vijay & Imran Tahir. QuPlay had roped in IPL champions Chennai Super Kings for the show and the episodes garnered a great response on all digital platforms.

QuPlay’s vision is to come up with an array of shows that will attract the youth with their edginess and modern outlook and plans to produce and present multiple series on Bollywood, travel & reality TV.

Dr Neha Narula, QI Spine Clinic explains why women are more prone to back pain and how to take charge 

This International Women’s Day take charge of your health. Whether you’re a working woman or a housewife, massive workloads and long working hours, take a toll on your body. Your spinal cord, which is the pillar of your body, will be the most affected- back pain being one of the leading symptoms.
Women of different age groups experience back pain for reasons ranging from gradual wear and tear of bone and muscles to hormone level fluctuation, menstruation, pregnancy, and degenerative diseases at an advanced age.
“Back pain can be debilitating and life-changing. Home remedies such as hot and cold compress and pain killers only delay the right treatment. The pain usually returns after a short while,” said Dr. Neha Narula, Senior Spine Specialist, QI Spine Clinic. “If you have a back pain that is recurrent in nature or doesn’t improve even after taking rest, consult a spine specialist before it’s too late,” she added.
Women of different age groups suffer from back pain for different reasons. Following are some causes and tips to help overcome it:

If you’re in your 20’s
In order to avoid developing back pain at a young age, it is important to maintain the right posture. Avoid slouching, sitting in one place for a long period of time, limit the use of gadgets, especially mobile phones. Use laptop stands and ergonomic furniture if you have to work for long hours.
Tips: Warm up before exercising, utilise the right techniques while working out, avoid high heels and tight clothes, and don’t carry over-weight backpacks- pack them using the right technique.

If you’re in your 30’s
Bone degeneration starts in your 30’s. It is a normal biological process but improving the back muscles to prevent axial overload can delay the process.
Tips: Maintain the right posture while sitting, standing, bending (while picking up things or children) or lifting weights.
Take care of your spine during pregnancy. Bone resorption (calcium homeostasis) in lactating women results in bone loss- your basic nutrition should include calcium-rich food. Engage in pre-natal and post-natal exercise to strengthen the back muscles.
Strengthen your core muscles like abdomen muscles and glutes.

If you’re in your 40’s, 50’s and 60’s
After menopause, the rate of bone degeneration increases. This leads to a loss in bone mass (osteoporosis). Your back muscles weaken, increasing pressure on your spine, causing nerve impingement, the narrowing of the spinal canal (stenosis) or bone fuse. Other common conditions include disc protrusion and the development of bone spurs.
Tips: Exercise to build muscle strength so that your spine can carry your body weight better.
Take food and health supplements to compensate for bone mass loss.
If you have back pain, check with your doctor.

The second season of R-City's Fashionista adds a dash of glamour for shoppers

 While International Women’s Week is celebrated with great pomp and fervour globally; Mumbai also witnessed the celebrations at R-City Mall. The mall which has become a synonym with shopping and entertainment conducted the second season of its annual event property ‘Fashonista’, wherein women shoppers from all walks of life enter an online contest to win the title. These contestants are then groomed and the grand finale round is of walking the ramp in front of a celebrity judge.

This year R-City Mall received applications from more than 300 women out of which 10 made it to the grand finale. There were extensive grooming sessions which took place for over 9 days for these contestants. Actress Niti Taylor who is currently seen in Star Plus’s show Ishqbaaaz chose the winner along with other judges. Niti selected the winner and rewarded her along with the first and second runner ups. The show was full of special performances and dance acts, which further added to the delight.

City Women celebrated the spirit of womanhood with ArtiSTREE 2019

 Paying a tribute to women, Growel’s 101 Mall organised ArtiSTREE 2019, a unique extravaganza that encouraged their creative instincts, as part of celebrations for International Women’s Day.
This year ArtiSTREE-2019 spanned over five very innovative segments: Queen of Environment, Queen of Social Causes, Queen of Arts, Queen of Cuisines and Queen of Performance.
The four-day celebrations began with a series of expert sessions on Smart Financial management, Legal Rights, Business Development and Personality Development to empower women specially housewives and aspiring entrepreneurs. The second day begin with some of the finest displays of art and mouth-watering delicacies made by the finalists of the event. It gave an opportunity to the women to show-off their artistic skills, best cuisines, put up food stalls and share their favourite recipes with customers. The winners who participated in the exhibitions were honoured with the titles ‘Queen of Arts’ and ‘Queen of Cuisines’.
The Grand finale which was held on 9th March kick-started with the finalists putting up performances through skits, singing and dance. The show set the tune perfectly for the merriment that followed with a stellar performance by renowned Bollywood playback singer Aakansha Sharma.
All the finalists namely Queen of Environment, Queen of Social Causes, Queen of Arts, Queen of Cuisines and Queen of Performance were awarded with Trophies and Citations from Women Achievers from various fields.

20th edition of three-day global media & entertainment convention, FICCI FRAMES begins in Mumbai
  The 20th edition of three-day global convention on the media and entertainment industry, FICCI FRAMES 2019, got underway today with Mr. Amit Khare, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, underscoring the need for self-regulation by media and entertainment industry players to allow the industry to grow.


“We have taken the initiative of having a national broadcast policy. One should consider self-regulation and less regulation if we want the system to grow,” he said.
On content generation and enhancement, Mr. Khare stressed the need to encourage co-production as it would bring more countries together and result in greater viewership.

Mr. Uday Shankar, Vice President, FICCI, said, “India is one of the most exciting markets for the Media and Entertainment industry. The great Indian media story has just begun,” and mentioned how the media and entertainment industry and FICCI FRAMES were growing by leaps and bounds. 

Mr. Ronnie Screwvala, Chairman & Co Founder, UpGrad, in his ‘Media Mastermind Keynote:  An Indian Entrepreneur’s Journey’ said that he had seen the industry and FICCI FRAMES for so many years and was happy to note that business people were at the centre stage of the convention. “The companies of tomorrow need to be more consumer companies and not just media companies. The Media and Entertainment sector cannot just function with passion, we also need leaders, founders and entrepreneurship,” said Mr. Screwvala as he emphasised that media and entertainment industry needs to focus on consumers.

The other speakers who shared their perspectives at the opening session were Mr. Charles H. Rivkin, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Motion Picture Association of America and Mr. Gary Knell, Chief Executive Officer, National Geographic Partners.

LANXESS' Virkon™ S helps contain Bird Flu outbreak in Patna zoo

 Virkon™ S, one of the world's leading veterinary disinfectants, from specialty chemicals company LANXESShas helped contain the recent outbreak of Avian Influenza (commonly known as Bird Flu) in the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, Patna in Bihar.

Incidentally, the presence of H5N1 strain of Avian Influenza was first detected in Bihar from the viscera of dead birds in six villages of Asarganj block in Munger district of Bihar on December 21. The report of the bird flu outbreak led to the culling of over 1400 birds in Munger district alone and another 100 in Patna.

Virkon™ S is recognized worldwide as the disinfectant of choice for the emergency disease control of Avian Influenza. Sanitization work for the containment of bird flu in Patna zoo was successfully performed by local authorities and Virkon™ S has been independently proven to be effective against highly pathogenic Avian Influenza virus strains. It has also been sprayed in the lion, tiger and leopard enclosures as a precautionary measure.

Studies carried out by independent international test laboratories have proven that Virkon™ S inactivates highly pathogenic Avian Influenza strains with a short contact time and in the face of challenging farm conditions such as heavy organic challenge, dilution by rain water and a wide range of temperatures, and the broad range of disease-causing organisms that can exist on farms. Virkon™ S is recommended for use at a dilution rate of 1:100 for preventative and continuous biosecurity measures to provide high levels of efficacy.

The highly efficacious nature of Virkon™ S has been demonstrated in a series of tests against members of the orthomyxoviridae virus family (including Avian influenza H5N1), and, by association, would be expected to inactivate the H5N8 strain.

In recent years, India has suffered multiple outbreaks of Avian Influenza H5N1 and it is becoming a growing concern for poultries. Various factors like high density of poultry population, movement of poultry and poultry products from infected areas within the country and mixed rearing of chickens has made India vulnerable to primary incursion of Avian Influenza. The main source of such outbreaks are the migratory birds that fly in from Siberia into India and is further spread by the inward movement of the infected birds within the country.

Marathon Group and Adani Realty launched the 2nd tower of their premium residential project at Byculla - Monte South. Approximately Rs 2000 crore joint venture between the two real estate brands, Monte South has introduced luxury 2 and 3 BHK residences starting at Rs 2.99 crore. The launch comes at a time when real estate market sentiments are beginning to look up – especially with the recent GST reduction on tax.

Monte South is being developed across 12 acres of mill land of the erstwhile Khatau Mills, and that happens to be one of the last remaining large land parcels in South Mumbai. The project offers a mix of 2, 2.5, 3 & 3.5 BHK apartments, with the larger configuration apartments being in the 1st tower.

Vodafone Idea Ltd., the largest mobile operator in India, is on a major network modernization exercise in Mumbai metro. The operator is deploying new technologies such as Massive MIMO, Small Cells, TDD sites to enhance coverage and network capacity in the metro city.

Addressing the digital connectivity needs of its millions of customers in Mumbai, Vodafone Idea has deployed more than 5,000 Massive MIMO, small cells and TDD sites across several regions such as Church gate, Prabhadevi, Pali hill, Lokhandwala, Versova, Andheri, Jogeshwari, Bandra and Dadar. The operator has also installed over 1900 dedicated indoor coverage solutions for high rises and commercial places. The momentum of deploying latest technologies to enhance network capacity and coverage for richer customer experience will continue over the next few months.

Tech leaders pave way for the convergence of IT & OT at Future Factory India Confex 2019

Tech experts from Tata Communications, Bosch, Infor, Microsoft, Unlimit (A Reliance Group Company) and Software Technology Parks of India converged at the Future Factory India Confex 2019 in Mumbai to discuss the convergence of IT & OT and the many changes brought about by emerging digital technology in the smart manufacturing landscape. Discussions by digital technology enablers and innovators in IIoT, M2M, AI, BlockChain, hardware independent augmented reality reigned the two day Confex that was held on 11 -12 March 2019 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai drawing 134 attendees.
Inaugurating the two-day Confex, Dr. Omkar Rai, Director General, Software Technology Parks of India announced: “As the largest outsourcing nation, India holds 56% of the share of global outsourcing of tech services. The nation holds the position to empower and enable migration to industry 4.0. To support this vision, government of India has announced NPSP 2019 policy (National policy on Software) which aims to make India move beyond an IT service nation and make it a technology product nation. Overall market size for technology product is USD 445 billion whereas India’s share currently is only 7.1 billion. ESPNcricinfo launches Superstats, new metrics that uses Data Science to analyze the game of cricket

 In the era of multiple formats and leagues, game of cricket needs to move beyond conventional measurement system such as economy rate, average and strike rate. Keeping this in mind, ESPNcricinfo in partnership with Indian Institute of Technology Madras launches Superstats, next level metrics to analyze the game of cricket. Superstats is a combination of stats metrics - Luck Index, Forecaster and Smart Stats that uses Data Science for the first time to give a context to every event in a game and also venture into new territories such as luck and forecasting. Former cricketing legends Rahul Dravid and Sanjay Manjrekar graced the occasion and shared their views on the need for next level statistics in the constantly evolving game of cricket.

IIT Madras Researchers and an IIT-M incubated company Gyan Data Pvt. Ltd. working with cricket experts from ESPNcricinfo derived Superstats from ESPNcricinfo’s rich ball-by-ball database which has more than ten years of detailed data, and scientific methods, processes and complex algorithms based on machine learning. The algorithms process accurate, fast data, quantify the impact of luck and analyze the real value of a player’s performance in the game of cricket in real time. This work was led by Profs. Raghunathan Rengaswamy and Mahesh Panchagnula of IIT Madras along with the ESPNcricinfo team.

Sambit Bal, Editor-in-chief, ESPNcricinfo and ESPN South Asia, said, “The development of these new metrics filled a long-felt gap in evaluating cricket performances. ESPNcricinfo has always been a pioneer in cricket data analysis and we have combined big data, cricket intelligence, and also data science to produce a set of numbers that will help fans understand and appreciate the game better.”

Speaking about the data analytics behind this initiative, Prof. Raghunathan Rengaswamy, IIT Madras, said, “While there might be many interpretations for luck, these algorithms rationalize and consistently quantify luck events so that a whole tournament with matches that occurred in disparate circumstances could be compared in an ‘apples-to-apples’ fashion.” He further added, “The AI work at IIT Madras is targeted towards several verticals such as fintech, manufacturing, smart city, biological systems engineering, and healthcare. Through this project, we have now forayed into sports analytics as well.”

Rahul Dravid, former Indian captain and head coach for the Under-19, on the role of luck in cricket, said, “Luck played a huge role in my career in 2009. I was on the verge of being dropped and was given an extra opportunity in Mohali against England. I was batting at number 3 and Stuart Broad bounces me. It was a top edge and as soon as I hit it, I was “oh god, I’m out again”. It just falls (short) of Matt Prior and the fine-leg fielder running in. I get a hundred in that game and go on to have a couple of good years, including three hundreds in England”. Commenting on Smart Stats, adding the most important thing going forward, he said, “The critical thing for me are the people who are going to make the best use of these numbers- how you read those numbers, what you get out of these numbers is the key.”

These data science algorithms use forecasting methods that train on past data to uncover trends and patterns during different periods of play and adapt based on actual match data resulting in highly accurate predictive models.

Smart Stats, launched at first as a standalone tool in 2018, is a suite of metrics that help fans judge performances in limited-overs cricket, especially the T20s, in a far more nuanced manner than conventional metrics do. It takes into account the context to every performance, batting and bowling. Context includes pitch conditions, quality of opposition, and match situation – in terms of the pressure on the player. In its new avatar, Smart Stats has added metrics such as Smart Wickets, Player Quality Index and Pressure Indices, to cover all facets of the game.
These metrics have led to sharper story-telling, with some of the strands being:
  • Most impactful batsman/bowler in a match, in terms of runs scored/saved above par (a cameo of 30 in 10 balls maybe more impactful than 70 off 50 balls)
  • An alternative scorecard based entirely on smart stats numbers
  • Best batsman/bowler in each phase (powerplay/death overs), based entirely on smart stats
  • Difference between the conventional numbers and smart stats numbers (the true-value players)
The Luck Index - So far, the impact of luck on match results have only been spoken about in qualitative terms; a bowler can beat the batsman numerous times but still have zero wickets or an edge from the bat can still concede a boundary. There is no way to assess how lucky a team/player has been. ESPNcricinfo fills this gap with Luck Index, a metrics that measure the quantum of luck by factoring the occurrence of several events including toss, umpiring errors (both DRS and non-DRS decisions), dismissal of a no-ball, dropped catches and more.
The core of the algorithm is in scoring various luck events that occur in a match. Data science algorithms play out different scenarios to evaluate the impact of the luck events. Generalization of the impact of the luck events through an equivalent "runs potential” brings all these events to a common baseline. This makes it possible to answer questions related to luckiest team, luckiest player, alternate points table, head-to-head luck impact and so on in the context of an entire tournament.

Forecaster functions as a prediction tool which provides win probability for the chasing team, likely score for the team that bats first, runs and wicket probability in the following over, for each bowler and so forth.
